The Materials We Honor

A benchmade shoe is only as honest as the hide from which it is cut. We work directly with heritage tanneries that preserve historic vegetable tanning methods:

• Horween Leather Company (Chicago, IL): Renowned Chromexcel and Shell Cordovan steeped in tree bark extracts and natural beef tallow.
• French Calfskin Lining: Glove-soft, uncorrected full-grain lining that wicks moisture and adapts organically to your foot.
• Mil-Spec Waxed Duck Canvas: 12oz tightly woven cotton canvas saturated with natural beeswax for water repellency and rugged breathability.
• Vibram & Lactae Hevea Soles: High-density natural rubber and plantation crepe outsoles providing superior cushioning and traction.

Cobbler Ridge shoes utilize mechanical sidewall stitching and 360-degree Goodyear welts. When your soles eventually wear thin, our cobblers can deconstruct, resole, re-cork, and return your broken-in favorites to like-new condition.
